What should I spend on Yellow Pages vs Search Engine Marketing

What should I spend on Yellow Pages vs Search Engine Marketing

Having studied yellow pages advertising and the business of yellow pages advertising I feel I am witnessing the dying of a industry. Yellow Pages advertising was responsible for so many business’s in the early 80’s growing like they did. Most people who bought yellow pages from southwestern bell which was my phone company in the 80’s. I have lived in Bradenton Search Engine Optimization , Florida since then. I think a guy named David Laird was the District or Bradenton Search Engine Optimization GM.

I sold a service to the advertisers in phone company directories from 1981 until about 2000. The only real business knowledge I possessed was the knowledge of the phone companies billing systems the sales people use when selling yellow pages. My customer (the yellow pages buyer) counted on me to know how they could save money in yellow pages advertising. When I first started this consulting I charged my cusotmer a fee based on 50% of what they saved in yellow pages advertsing. It was a project based bill and there was not any repeat business unless the customer change the ads I recommended the year of the consulting. I recieved many fee’s for several thousands of dollars but never really showed a profit for many years. In about 1990 I changed the way I was billing people and I would charge the price of a bold listing in the yellow pages for consulting. I had a repeat business so to speak with a fee of 25 to 50 dollars a month per directory I consulted on. Shortly after the browser was introduced I began to learn from my yellow pages customers that they were getting leads off of these web pages they created on search engines like altavista, yahoo, and excite. I decided it was time to transform my agency to a Internet marketing agency from a yellow pages advertising agency. It was the best move I have ever made.

Learning how to get web pages to appear at the top of these search portal soon started developing leads for my customers and the rest is history. We now help hundreds of customers to appear at the top of the search results and we have made many customers millions of dollars. Most of these customers are yellow pages advertisers who made millions of dollars from the leads they got from their yellow pages advertising. If you advertise in the ATT yellow pages and you are not advertising with Yahoo, Google and MSN you are missing something really special.

The Lousiville Search Engine Marketing Community

The Lousiville Search Engine Marketing Community

Having about 20 appointments now interviewing some of the web design and search engine optimization players in Louisville I have come to many conclusions. The first major conclusion is that everyone here thinks they are great at everything. Confidence is everywhere. Most of the people I have met think they do optimization and none of them have talked to me about article management and press releases. I wonder if these people are just throwing meta tags on a page and getting some good results and walking away. I noticed every company that I have talked to here does not have a dedicated ppc specialist like we do. Sometimes while interviewing the market in Louisville I feel like I am in Bradenton Search Engine Optimization 10 years ago. Many of the people I met with said that my prices would never be accepted here and that people would not pay a ongoing fee for search engine marketing and that the best way to do it is by the project. We have learned after 10 years of doing this that the companies that are charging by the projects are the ones over charging not us. At IllDev.com Search Engine Optimization company we charge a honest days pay for a honest days work. We don’t charge people to make home runs. Every customer pays what they pay for at the same rate. I had one guy tell me he was marking up a bid by 4 because they expect so much.

Search engine marketing professionals

Search engine marketing professionals

I have met two people lately who would be a good piece to the IllDev.com Search Engine Optimization company team. Donatus Weobong, and Steve Lawrence. One’s in Louisville and one’s in Bradenton Search Engine Optimization . I think Donatus has some customers and Steve is pationate about SEO. Both have above average people skills and marketing skills. They could help IllDev.com Search Engine Optimization company get to the next level. I would like to see their contribution for one year then cut them in on the business we have here. Skills and work ethic are the key to more partners. Both would bring in more customers, probably more than enough to pay for themselves. I will work on a deal with them soon. We don’t need anymore 40 hour type of people. Allow them burnout time to time but expect your partners to get back up on their horse soon after a burnout. Expect great communication within your team. I love helping people grow their income. A search engine marketing customer or a member of my team. I hope we can be fair and equitable to all. This is a great business and one I will be involved in the rest of my life. I have worked 25 years running my own company and finally I am enjoying what I am doing.
