Dedicated Servers
A dedicated server is best considered by large companies in need of
considerable amounts of web hosting space. The term "dedicated server" means
exactly what it implies: by purchasing a dedicated server package you will
have a complete server devoted strictly to your web hosting needs.
This includes public peering at public exchange points such as Ameritech Nap,
MAE East, Mae West, PAIX, Sprint Nap and private peering arrangements with major
providers and networks like UUnet, MCI, Sprint, Agis, and BBplanet. Stringent
bandwidth accounting ensures that utilization never goes over 50% before
additional bandwidth is acquired.
The state of the art data center is complete with redundant power air
conditioning, redundant UPS and generator backup systems, card key access, VESPA
detection systems, closed circuit monitoring, fire suppression, and 24 hour
security.
All data is backed up on a daily basis on highly reliable automated backup
tape units. All machines are Celeron and Pentium class, primarily running Apache
and Red Hat Enterprise 4.
The number of IP addresses allowed on each machine is based on what that
machine can reasonably handle and the cost involved to maintain a machine with x
number of IPs.
Dedicated Server OS is Windows 2003 Enterprise Server, with IIS6 Web Server.
