Short meta tag overview:
The title tag should be unique, short and targeted around the content of each
individual web page. Search engines consider the title tag to be one of the most important factors in
determining the ranking of web pages. The text you put into the title tag is also what search engines
display in their results, so it's not only important that it contains the most important keywords/key phrase (2-3)
that you're targeting, but it should also be visually appealing to searchers.
The meta description tag should be unique for each web page with the keywords/key phrase included.
Try to keep it between 150-199 characters (25-35 words).
The meta keywords tag should contain the keywords that are unique to each web page. Most search
engines ignore this meta tag, although Inktomi and Teoma still support it.
